So a couple of minutes ago I go on to Google searching for something (completely forgotten by now, what I actually went on to search for) and I see this fixed width page fade in just as I start typing. Next thing I read “Feelings of euphoria and weightlessness are normal. Do not be alarmed”. Google was dead on at that.

It was Google Instant. Google Instant is a new search enhancement for their oldest product Google Search that Google has introduced, optional as it is, you can choose to switch it off but why would you do that, it’s so cool. What instant does is just as you start typing, it predicts the search query and starts showing search results before you even finish typing. Helps with making faster searches. I don’t know how much faster do we need, I mean haven’t we been reading ‘your search took 0.xx seconds’ for ages. But the point is: the tool looks awesome. Makes searching easy. I love it! Digg founder Kevin Rose announced on his twitter account today as Digg v4 launch day. When the whole thing about Digg v4 started I thought I would pre-write an article and post it just as soon as Digg v4 is released. But with all the criticism surrounding this new release I thought people would be rather more annoyed than excited.

So then I dropped the idea of the whole review + features note and here I am writing a simple article informing you that Digg v4 is coming our way soon, very soon.

At the moment I am unable to open digg.com, wonder why? Kevin Rose posted a picture link of the currently chaotic Digg HQ within that tweet.

Facebook has unveiled their much anticipated geo-location based product: Facebook Places. Facebook places currently is only available within the United States to those who have mobile access to Facebook. Places basically is Facebook’s Foursquare, it basically let’s you tag your location to your status update.

In the past there have been robberies where the burglars used Twitter to find out when the owners weren’t home and went through with the robbery using the app custom tailored for such a plan: Twitter. Now, with Facebook’s much larger & rather more casual user base we can only imagine the possibilities.

Just like Twitter joined hands with TweetMeme for the launch of their Tweet button. Facebook did the same with Foursquare only they were much smarter, they didn’t give Foursquare anything, Not even early access to the Facebook Places API. Really Foursquare? being on stage with the potential threat, only you know what you’re doing.

To access Facebook Places all you have to do is:

• Go to The United States
• Get yourself a mobile connection
• Go to touch.facebook.com or access it using Facebook for iPhone
• and that’s it! you should see the places icon.

Easy Peasy! Now you can share that you’ve moved.

You know there are some times when you just can’t beat us at being weird. Well you can’t deny that he’s following some law, at least he’s wearing a helmet.

Great news, Twitter announced their very own tweet button today which is nothing more than the forever offered retweet button by TweetMeme, only native. This button once tweeted will also show follow suggestions based on what you just tweeted.

As soon as I heard about this button, my first reaction, even before writing about it was to implement it on geekfill, which I did. I have to agree Twitter native button is better looking and has the better implementation method then that of TweetMeme’s green retweet button which makes Twitter button easier to style.

With all said and agreed in praise for Twitter’s new button, I still felt bad removing those script tags providing me with the good old green retweet button. TweetMeme came up with the idea first and offered it in a great way that everyone loved. so for the old button: So long my little green friend.

TweetMeme is itself in partnership with Twitter to promote their new button in turn for which twitter is providing them with fuller access to their complete data sets which they are using to develop their new product DataSift which is a new kind of search API . Still in it’s pre-alpha stages I haven’t yet researched what it exactly is.
