10) Mike Tyson

Despite being one of the best boxers of recent years, and an inspiration to many young boxers, Mike Tyson has had more than enough of fights with the law. His entire life he was involved in illegal activities, starting from when he was arrested at 12 years old for swiping purses. Since then, he has had a record of 40 arrests, all varying from normal shoplifting to aggravated assault. The worst of them was when he was sentenced to six years, for molesting an 18-year-old beauty pageant contestant in 1992; however, he was released early in 1995 for good behaviour and thankfully, has never returned to that life.

9) Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan was a name you knew was going to be there in the list, didn’t you? The teen sensation was an inspiration to many young girls and when her substance abuse problems started, many girls were left reeling in longing for the beautiful freckled girl they admired since a very young age. Her first DUI arrest happened in 2007, and since then she has been caught for driving under the influence, possession of cocaine, assault, and even hit and runs. Lohan was accused of allegedly sideswiping a person with her car outside a Hollywood hotspot and then fleeing the scene. L.A. prosecutors decline to prosecute, citing “no direct evidence”. What a waste!

8) O. J. Simpson

Orenthal James “O. J.” Simpson, nicknamed The Juice, is a former National Football League (NFL) running back, broadcaster, actor, advertising spokesman, and well- a convicted armed robber and kidnapper. He was acquitted for the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ronald Goldman, mainly due to a mishandling of evidence (or excess of influence?). But even this acquittal did not keep him away from playing with the law again as in 2007, he was caught breaking into a hotel room and taking sports memorabilia at gunpoint, an act that resulted in multiple charges of criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, kidnapping, assault, and use of a deadly weapon. He was found guilty and sentenced to 33 years in prison. At his parole hearing on July 20, 2017, the board decided to grant Simpson parole due to “good behavior”. His release date is October 1, 2017. He will have served just nine years when he actually comes out.

7) Khloé Kardashian

You just know that the Kardashians are everywhere, then why not over here? The Kardashian known for her revenge body, was arrested for DUI in March 2007, and was sentenced to three years probation. It did not surprise anyone as she is a known rebel. She was sentenced to 30 days of Jail time as she failed to abide by the probation. But the weekend before, Kardashian showed no obvious signs of worry about her upcoming jail term, as she attended a party at the Project Beach House in Malibu with her mother and sister Kourtney. Besides that incident, she was arrested and jailed for stealing her mother’s car at the age of 15, and she was also a suspect in the assault of a transsexual woman outside of a nightclub in 2009. It is hard to keep up with a Kardashian indeed.

6) Mark Wahlberg

Mark Wahlberg is a name that surprises you, doesn’t it? The Massachusetts based actor received his first civil action at 15 for harassing African-American children, and a year later, he was arrested for beating a middle-aged Vietnamese man nearly to death with a large wooden stick (we call raaccissstt). He also developed a serious cocaine addiction at a very young age and dealt drugs for a source of income. At 19, he decided to clean up his life and joined a band with his older brother, eventually striking out on his own to make it big with his own band: Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. And he never looked back at the criminal life. He is fondly known by his fans for his “tough guy” action persona, frequently portraying police officers, military personnel, or criminals in his films (ironical indeed).

5) Snoop Dogg

The seriously talented rapper has been caught several times in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. However, before he began releasing music, the young rapper was in an out of prison for several years and was even an admitted gang member. While recording Doggystyle in August 1993, Snoop Dogg was arrested in connection with the death of Phillip Woldermariam, a member of a rival gang who was shot and killed by Snoop’s bodyguard, McKinley Lee; but why Snoop was arrested? It was because he was driving the vehicle from which the shooting had commenced. Eventually, the shooting was ruled as self-defense, and Snoop Dogg was acquitted of all charges. But has he, really?

4) Bill Cosby

(Source: nbcnews.com)

Although Bill Cosby’s sexual assault allegations have gained a lot of publicity in recent years, so his name will not be a big surprise for you guys. His molestation tendencies go long back as he was first accused of rape in the 1980s with the actual act happening in 1965. And like a game of domino, the chips kept on falling as one lost its balance and thus, 59 women have come out and accused the American entertainer of rape or sexual misconduct, with 44 of the cases involving drug use, even the date-rape drug. The dates of the alleged incidents span from 1965 to 2008 across 10 U.S. states and one Canadian province. In 2016, it was announced that Cosby would see trail before June 5th 2017 but it ended as a mistrial with a corrupt jury. His second trial starts on November 17, 2017 and he could face up to 10 years imprisonment for each charge against him (500 years in total, at least). About time Sir, about time!

3) R. Kelly

(Source: toledoblade.com)

Kelly’s image as a self-parodying R&B sensation largely overshadows a very disturbing truth about the Chicago singer: He has been accused of rape several times. Besides several accounts of rape and an illegal marriage to a 15-year-old girl, Kelly was also charged with numerous counts of child pornography in 2003, most of which involve Kelly himself performing sexual acts on underage girls. And people have gone to lengths in disgust to tell how disgusting those videos were as they say that, “The videos were not of sexual acts, they were of blatant rape.” LiLo looks like a saint now, doesn’t she?

2) Marilyn Manson

Marilyn Manson has always been a strange character, but besides that, Brian Hugh Warner (his real name), is an American singer, songwriter, musician, composer, actor, painter, author and former music journalist. When it comes to law, he has been sort of an attention-seeker, as he has been arrested for charges such as faking a sexual act, impersonating a Catholic bishop, and exposing himself during a performance (completely). One of his weirdest accusations came in 2001 when he assaulted a security guard at one of his concerts, reportedly rubbing his crotch and genitalia on the man’s forehead. His ex-wife, Maria St. John, filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court accusing Manson of providing her adult daughter, Jennifer Syme, with cocaine and instructing her to drive while under the influence. Is it the fame that drives them to next level of absurdity or WHAT EVEN?

1) Robert Downey Jr.

(Source: theuntoldstories.com)

Now, this is a name that has been influencing many little and big hearts, and just not only as Iron Man. The Golden Globe winner Robert Downey Jr. is a force to hard to handle when it comes to acting and well, this expertise couldn’t help him get out of the poor addiction drugs and alcohol are. The years of 1996 to 2001, saw him getting racked up in a number of arrests for possession of cocaine, heroin, and marijuana. After spending a number of years in and out of rehab, he seems to he finally came out in 2001 and got his first post-rehab acting job in August 2001, lip-syncing in the video for Elton John’s single “I Want Love”, in which he felt relaxed and at ease and wanted to be far, far away from the recurring drug-jail-rehab cycle and pledged to never go back. It is a relief to see him keep his pledge as we do love him, Iron Man or no.

You’ll be surprised to hear that personalities like Bill Gate (multiple traffic arrest), Will Smith (almost beating a guy into blindness), Tim Allen (trafficking over one and a half pounds of cocaine), Matthew McConaughey (noise ordinance, resisting arrest and, unsurprisingly, marijuana use), Martin Sheen (boasting the most arrests of any Hollywood celebrity, 67 in total) and our loving Jay-z (accused of stabbing a man in a nightclub), 50 Cent (for using the F-word in a concert but hell, how will he sing his sings if not for it?) are also some of the celebrities to have a criminal record. It is good to hear that the love of limelight (and money, of course) has made some of these celebrities come clean and start with a legally-compliant career.
