UPDATE: Facebook’s new Android app drains battery [FIXED]

Facebook recently released an update for their Facebook app days after the founder Mark Zuckerberg gave up his iPhone for an Android powered handset. The only bad part of releasing this app was that it seems to be draining battery at an alarming level.
Facebook for Android [Facebook page] confirmed this bug and said they were working on an update to fix the bug.
Hi folks, a number of you have commented on seeing a battery drain on your device since installing the new Facebook for Android app. We have identified the bug that is causing this battery drain and are working on a fix now. As soon as the patch is ready, we will push out an update. Thanks for the quick feedback and for your patience as we get this fixed!
UPDATE: Facebook has now released an update that fixes the issues with battery. Facebook Android app now seems to work fine.
