iPhone 4.0.1 Jailbreak via Safari
by AayushThe best Jailbreak tool has raided the Apple devices, JailbreakMe 2.0 is here. JailbreakMe 2.0 has managed to jailbreak most of Apple iOS 4 devices from within the device itself via mobile Safari.
JailbreakMe 2.0 uses a remote exploit on mobile Safari which allows it to get into the firmware and update the device with a jailbroken patch. The security exploit is said to be in the PDF rendering code, PDF code that belong Apple and not Adobe. The reason could be Apple’s love for Adobe, but since Mac OS X 10.0 Apple has always implemented their own PDF rendering engine. That could easily be one of the biggest mobile security flaws ever.
The only negative aftermath of the Jailbreak that bothered me is the loss of Facetime and MMS. Although I haven’t tried it, it has been confirmed via twitter that restoring the device from a backup should fix MMS & Facetime. So make sure you save yourself a backup before trying the easiest possible jailbreak ever in the history of iDevices.
To jailbreak using JailbreakMe 2.0 all you have to do is:
- BACKUP
- Update your device to iOS 4.0.1
- Find yourself a stable WiFi connection
- Open Safari on the device and navigate to http://jailbreakme.com.
- Just slide and watch the magic happen.
JailbreakMe.com works with the following devices:
- iPod 3G on 3.1.2, iPod 3G on 3.1.3, iPod 3G on 4.0
- iPad on 3.2, iPad on 3.2.1
- iPhone 3G on 3.1.2, iPhone 3G on 3.1.3, iPhone 3G on 4.0, iPhone 3G on 4.0.1
- iPhone 3G[S] on 3.1.2, iPhone 3G[S] on 3.1.3, iPhone 3G[S] on 4.0, iPhone 3G[S] on 4.0.1
- iPhone 4 on 4.0, iPhone 4 on 4.0.1

I have an iPhone 3gS and it’s safe to say that I definitely would have gone with another phone(and service provider) unless jailbreaking existed. Having a jailbroken phone is like getting the iPhone all over again. I always check http://iphoneblogr.com for all the latest news on jailbreaking and unlocking idevices.
Thanks for this informative post. I am very excited for the upcoming jailbreak from the Chronic Dev team. Come check out http://iphoneblogr.com for all the lastest news on iPhone jailbreaking and unlocking as it happens.
i just jailbreaked my iphone 4 with iOs 4.0.1 using the Jialbreakme. It instaled Cydia. After that, Cydia asked for an upgrade and i did it.
Then, my iphone was stucked in the apple logo. Tried to restore from itunes with a 4.0.1 firmware but itunes didn“t liked that. I had to restore and upgrade to iOs 4.1 to get my phone working again.
Bye bye jailbreak until another one comes out for 4.1
I have got to agree with the previous commenter, the fact in which information and assistance such as you offer is now readily avaliable does suggest we all find ourselves that much more encouraged in comparison with a few years ago.
