Google To Provide 1 GB/sec Broadband Speed
by AayushGiving free Internet to everyone in Mountain View wasn’t good enough, Now the Internet giant has announced on their official blog that they are planning to build and test a broadband network with speed as high as 1 GB/sec on experimental basis and make it available to at least 50,000 people or more.
They posted on their official blog:
We’re planning to build and test ultra high-speed broadband networks in a small number of trial locations across the United States. We’ll deliver Internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today with 1 gigabit per second, fiber-to-the-home connections. We plan to offer service at a competitive price to at least 50,000 and potentially up to 500,000 people.
Google already provides free citywide WiFi in Mountain View but a giga/sec broadband speed is BIG. Google says it will be available at competitive prices. They also published that the purpose of this project is to experiment and learn.
