Firefox for Mobile Is Here
by Aayush On January 31st,2010The browser we’ve all loved, the browser that saved us from the world of pain IE practically made for us is now out for the first mobile device. If you own a N900, you can now get Firefox for Nokia’s Maemo platform. It supports many of the features Firefox for the desktop supports.
Some current browsers the S60 devices support are the Opera Mini, Skyfire, etc. But the experience they provide is no where close to what the Firefox For Maemo has in store. With the launch of Firefox for Maemo, there is hope for Firefox soon coming to the S60 devices, Android and maybe, just maybe, The iPhone & of course the iPad.
Firefox for Maemo features include:
- Sync for Firefox tabs, History, Bookmarks and Passwords with the Desktop
- Location Aware Browsing
- Tabbed Browsing
- Multi-Language Support
and Yes, Most importantly the Add-ons, according to Mozilla there are currently more than 40 Firefox add-ons available to install on Firefox Mobile and just like the desktop, Firefox Mobile has a developer’s platform, developers shall use Web technologies like HTML5, CSS and JavaScript to write add-ons for Firefox Mobile.
